What should men control?
According to the data obtained through the Registers of Cancer, the incidence of aerodigestive tract, genito-urinary organ, colon and rectum tumours is high in men.
As the tumoral illnesses in these areas do not always produce specific symptoms in the initial stage, it would be convenient to carry out preventive periodical check-ups that allow us to verify the stage, and diagnose the premalignant lesions in advance for a correct and rapid treatment.
Through easy tests it is presently possible to diagnose the tumoral illnesses that affect men in an early stage.
The recommendations for early detection take into account the risk factors: smoking and alcoholic consume, inadequate eating habits, age, and personal and family antecedents.
The Oncologic Prevention Check-up for men includes the following tests:
1.- Clinical history: Symptoms and signs.
2.- Family antecedents of a neoplasic illness.
3.- General physical exploration.
4.- Ear, Nose and Throat exploration, depending on symptomatology: oral cavity, pharynx, larynx and vocal cords.
5.- Rectal tract (older than 45): Assessing rectal and anal mucous, together with the state of the prostatic gland.
6.- Test for the detection of occult blood in feces.
7.- Tumoral marker for prostatic cancer. Determination of the Prostatic Specific Antigen (PSA), (older than 45).
8.- Radiologic exploration if necessary.
9.- Medical report of all the explorations.
10.- Recommendations and medical guiding depending on the clinical findings and results.
